The Role of the SAW Algorithm as a Reference for Determining KIP Scholarship Recipients
Abstract
Determining prospective Scholarship Recipients really requires acceleration in the selection process because the increase in the number of scholarship applications from year to year, especially the KIP scholarship, has soared significantly. Decision Support Systems (DSS) are used to speed up decision making. The Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method is a weighted addition that can be ranked to produce accurate results. Determining prospective scholarship recipients in this case really requires the role of DSS and SAW, where in practice each scholarship, especially the KIP scholarship, has more than one criterion which becomes a reference for measuring the eligibility of a scholarship recipient. The SAW method is proven to be able to provide systematic and measurable ranking results based on predetermined criteria and weights, meaning that this selection is carried out well so that all prospective Scholarship Recipients receive a value that can be calculated and their eligibility can be measured according to the criteria they have each fulfilled. The final result of this article is to produce one Alternative that is entitled to receive a scholarship from all existing Alternatives from various series of manual calculation processes involving the SAW method.
